Depends on the camera. Most simple point-and-shoots will let you widen the aperture to allow for back-ground blurring. |

If you have an option called 'Macro' which makes details on a very close view of an object clear as anything. Like here: -media.photobucket.com/ image/ macro/ findstuff22/ Best%20Images/ Photography/ macro111.jpg?o= 1 I suggest the Cannon PowerShot SD880 IS Digital Elph. It's a little on the expensive side but it's worth it! Hope this Helps! ( Best answer :]?) Gabby |

For that you ideally need a large sensor and a lens with wide aperture, neither of which a compact camera has, so it's next to improbable. Chris |

Making the background blurry isn't about the focus its about the aperture size giving shallow depth of field. Now the trouble is with compact cameras is that while the effective aperture is f2.8 however the aperture is still very small, therefore the short answer is no, but Sony cybershots have a function called soft shoot or something similar that digitally creates the shallow depth of field you want. |
