Question: Is it wise to buy a 2nd hand digital camera?

I want to buy a digital camera. I'm not really fussed about quality, just need something thats less than 3 years old, 5- 8 megapixels and works! Is it a really bad idea to buy a 2nd hand one of a 2nd hand shop? They do give a 1 month guarantee. Do these things not last long? Thanks! |

Its OK if you thoroughly check out the camera. Really put its through its paces within that 30 days - if you find anything wrong bring it back immediately. However... The best time to buy any digital camera is when they are new. Digital cameras tend to "age " pretty fast. I don't mean they get worn out quickly - they just become obsolete rather fast. Also, the price of a new digital camera isn't that much anymore for a decent one. I bought a 14.7 megapixel Canon Powershot G10 for $500 when it came out, but the first ONE megapixel cameras cost over $20,000! The prices on new cameras have really come down. I got my 8 megapixel for just under £50. |

I think its a fair deal.. camera rarely go wrong to be honest as there isnt much mechanicals components inside.. so yeah go for it plus they are offering u some sort of warantee |

I wouldn't buy a second hand digital camera. A mechanical film camera tends to be better, it can be serviced without much problems. Electronics are expensive to service and that old, they tend to be worn. |
